Why L.O.S.E.R.’s Make the Best Conference Call Leaders

loser_1.jpgTrainers, speakers, and high tech companies love acronyms as vehicles to communicate messages. In the spirit of despair.com, here is a humorous reminder of important skills when leading conference calls, presentations, and webinars.

Listen: ask simple open-ended questions, be silent, and just listen

Observe: let go of the agenda and focus on your participants fully

Seek inclusion: divisiveness destroys productivity

Engage: invite people to participate by making the call relevant to each person

Remind: remember and acknowledge the contributions of each person

After years of helping organizations develop high performance teams (in person and by conference calls), one skill continues to surface as the essential key to being productive under stress – the ability to laugh. The next time you are stressed out about your upcoming conference call, webinar, or presentation, proudly make the sign of the “L” over your forehead and laugh. Participants will appreciate your being a L.O.S.E.R. more than you will ever know!

Have you got a good story about a L.O.S.E.R.? Please post it and share it with the Power Conference Calls community.
